AVL Focus - Issue 2025

ir pollution is a growing global challenge for both the

environment and public health, with ultrafine particles

(UFPs) playing a critical role. Accurate and reliable

monitoring of these particles, smaller than 100 nanometers,

is one of today’s most demanding tasks. To address this

need, AVL has developed the AVL UltraFine Particle Monitor™,

building on decades of expertise in particle measurement

from the automotive sector. This device uses state-of-the-art

technology to measure particle number concentrations down

to 10 nanometers (nm) in size.

The AVL UltraFine Particle Monitor features robust optical

components engineered for harsh operating conditions.

Automatic drift detection and reboot functions ensure a

VL’s advanced measurement portfolio offers un-

matched capabilities – from high-voltage power anal-

ysis to real-time data acquisition and ultra-accurate

current sensing. At its core is the new AVL X-ion™ PA2 power

analyzer, complemented by AVL BEAT™ software and AVL

Closed Fluxgate Current Transducers (CFC). Together, they

ensure highest accuracy, seamless integration, and reliable

performance in all types of test environments.

AVL X-ion™ PA2

This high-precision power analyzer marks a new era of power

analysis for the automotive industry and beyond. The X-ion

PA2 combines precise power analysis with high-frequency

transient waveform analysis. With up to eight power channels,

high-voltage inputs up to 1,000 Vrms, and optional direct rotor

resolver inputs, it handles anything from individual compo-

nents to complete drive trains. Modular NVH inputs enable

fully synchronized correlation of electrical signals with NVH

phenomena (noise, vibration, and harshness). Galvanically

isolated high-voltage inputs meet CAT III requirements, while

parallel signal paths enable both high-accuracy energy flow

analysis and 100 MS/s snapshot acquisition for detailed eval-

uation of switching events, overshoot, and harmonics.

AVL BEAT™

BEAT is our cutting-edge software solution for data acquisi-

tion, online processing, and analysis. It features live visual-

ization with configurable dashboards, scripting for advanced

automation tasks, and powerful post-processing. Data can

be streamed and synchronized in real time and correlated

with NVH or mechanical parameters. Tight integration with

the X-ion PA2 enables simultaneous long-term recording

and high-resolution transient analysis. BEAT supports indus-

try-standard interfaces, offers precise PTP time stamping,

and connects seamlessly with AVL PUMA 2™ and third-party

automation systems.

AVL Closed Fluxgate Current Transducers

AVL’s CFC sensors deliver per mill accuracy across a wide

frequency and temperature range. They cover currents from

milliamps to several kiloamps and are galvanically isolated

for safe use up to 1,500 Vp. TEDS-based auto-recognition and

self-parameterization minimize setup time and reduce errors.

Direct sensor supply from the X-ion PA2 ensures a clean,

interference-free connection, while the robust design and low

drift of the transducers make them ideal for e-mobility, power

electronics, and stationary energy system testing.

continuous flow of high-quality data. Its user-friendly operation

and straightforward maintenance make handling effortless.

Seamless integration into existing ambient air monitoring sta-

tions makes it the ideal solution for regulatory agencies and

research institutions seeking to implement effective pollution

control strategies and advance impactful research.
