AVL Focus - Issue 2024

Le transTort and Tower generation sectors significantly

contribute to CO2 emissions – particularly heavy-duty

road and marine transport, which rely heavily on fossil

fuels. The urgency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and

comply with the Paris Agreement has driven the development

of green energy solutions.

Funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe

framework, the ALL-IN Zero project aims to revolutionize power

generation technology. Its core focus is a multi-fuel system that

converts various fuels, both low or zero carbon, into hydrogen

(H2). The key technology is an innovative compact membrane

reactor '16 tLat allows eƾcient onFoard ,2 production –

without extensive infrastructure and while maintaining existing

transport systems for liquid fuels.

8Le strengtL oJ tLis tecLnology lies in its ƽe\iFility a wide range

of fuels can be used to produce H2, including ammonia, natural

gas, biogas, and alcohols. In addition, the CMR concept offers

eƾcient carbon capture and storage (CCS) techniques, making

it a sustainable and scalable model for hard-to-abate sectors.

-ntegrating tLis mYltiJYel system can significantly redYce

emissions in heavy-duty transport. Today, two years into the

four-year project, the concept is already showing promising

results in terms of H2 generation rates and compatibility with

both internal combustion engines (ICE) and fuel cell systems

(FCS). The experimental framework is operational, setting the

stage for further development and integration of this innovative

propulsion system.

Our expertise in engine and fuel cell development, emission

redYction, and system integration is a significant sYccess Jactor

for ALL-IN Zero. The project involves collaboration between
